I'm not sure when it happened that "it's science" became a very common answer for many things... sometimes things that were, in fact, scientific, and sometimes for things that were absolutely not. Frequently, the phrase is used in an ironic or sarcastic way to emphasize how very un-scientific something is.
I like to think back to my time in middle school when we would occasionally have a break from our normal science class to learn from "Bill Nye, the Science Guy." For those of you who are too young for this reference, please educate yourselves. Even before Bill Nye, the Magic School Bus was teaching us about science!
So what still surprises me is the general lack of knowledge we posses concerning our own bodies, especially for women in relation to their reproductive systems. Perhaps this is a flaw in the educational system. For whatever reason, many women do not know much about their system besides the monthly visit from "Aunt Flo."
We need to change that! If you never took an anatomy, biology or embryology class that explained things in more detail... time to do your homework. This video gives a great overview and helps clarify the role of hormones in a woman's cycle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGJsrGmWeKE.
We can look at fertilization next time!

Welcome!
Welcome to the Natural Fertility blog!
This is a blog dedicated to raising awareness for natural ways to achieve conception without treatments such as IVF (in-vitro fertilization).
The authors of this blog will always strive to provide its readers with sound advice, authentic information and scientific references to support its work. References will be given as frequently as possible to aid in further learning.
The use of the term "natural" here means without treatments, supplements, medications, etc... The key is to grow in knowledge of the female reproductive system so that women (and men) can understand how to conceive a child naturally if possible.
Please follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook (coming soon) to stay connected!
